Getting started

Introduction to Wire MCP

Wire MCP is a WordPress plugin that connects Claude and ChatGPT to your website through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It gives your assistant supported tools to inspect the site, create native Elementor layouts and make changes you request.

The AI assistant interprets your brief. Wire MCP connects it to permitted website operations. WordPress and Elementor save and render the result. Wire MCP is not an AI model, and design results depend on the assistant, your instructions and the tools available.

A good first step

Inspect the site first, then try a small change on a draft page. Keep a current backup before editing an existing website, and review the result before publishing.

Getting started

What you need

  • A WordPress website and an administrator account authorized to install plugins and connect it.
  • The current official Wire MCP release and its required WordPress, PHP and MCP Adapter dependencies. Follow the dependency checks shown in the plugin dashboard.
  • A working HTTPS certificate and publicly reachable MCP and OAuth endpoints.
  • Elementor Free for native Elementor page building. Pro-only widgets and templates require Elementor Pro separately.
  • A Claude or ChatGPT account with access to custom MCP connections and the tools needed for your workflow. Account and workspace restrictions still apply.

“Dependencies ready” describes the installed requirements. Your Wire MCP license and available capabilities are shown separately.

Separate subscriptions

Wire MCP does not include an AI subscription, hosting, Elementor Pro or other third-party licenses. A paid Wire MCP plan does not unlock features restricted by your AI provider or workspace.

Getting started

Install Wire MCP

  1. Download the official ZIP from the Wire MCP download page. Keep it zipped.
  2. In WordPress, open Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin.
  3. Select the ZIP, choose Install Now, then activate the plugin.
  4. Open Wire MCP in your WordPress dashboard.
  5. Check the loaded version, dependencies, plan and connection instructions.
Automatic Free setup

Current releases automatically verify an eligible Free site from the dashboard. Normal setup does not require editing wp-config.php or using a manual Enroll/recover button. Wait for the verified allowance to appear; a pending or unavailable state is not a fresh balance.

Already installed? Follow the update instructions instead of deleting the plugin.

AI connections

Connect Claude

  1. Open Wire MCP in WordPress and select its Claude connection instructions.
  2. Copy the exact MCP server URL shown, including any query string.
  3. In Claude, open the custom connector setup and add your website’s MCP URL.
  4. When using the Client ID and Client Secret supplied by Wire MCP, select Use your own OAuth client if Claude offers a choice. Enter those values only in the connector’s credential fields.
  5. Complete the WordPress sign-in and consent flow. Check that the domain belongs to your website.
  6. Return to Claude, enable the connected website in your conversation and run the read-only check below.

Use the authentication method supported by your installed plugin. Do not switch to a published-identity option simply because the client marks it recommended.

AI connections

Connect ChatGPT

  1. Open Wire MCP’s ChatGPT setup instructions and copy your site’s exact MCP URL.
  2. In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins → + → Add custom MCP server. Availability depends on your account and workspace permissions.
  3. Enter a recognizable name and the MCP URL. Choose OAuth and use Wire MCP’s Client ID and Client Secret when configuring static credentials.
  4. If callback registration is required, copy the exact redirect URI shown by ChatGPT into Wire MCP’s supported callback configuration. Do not guess the URI or use a wildcard.
  5. Create the connection, complete WordPress authorization and install the resulting plugin in ChatGPT if prompted.
  6. In a new conversation, type @ and select the website connection. Run the read-only check above before editing.

Interface labels can change. Use the plugin’s setup instructions together with OpenAI’s current connection guide ↗. A connection being available does not override tool or workspace permissions.

Keep credentials private

Enter secrets only in the intended setup fields. Do not paste license keys, OAuth secrets, authorization codes or access tokens into a chat, prompt or public screenshot.

Getting started

Your first task

Create an empty draft page in WordPress and note its page ID. Ask Claude or ChatGPT to inspect that page, load Wire MCP’s available design guidance and make one clearly scoped change.

First draft prompt · replace [PAGE ID]
Use Wire MCP on the connected website. Inspect draft Page ID [PAGE ID] and load the available Elementor design guidance first.

If the page is empty and unpublished, build one hero section with a heading, short paragraph and primary button using native Elementor containers and widgets.

Use the site's existing colors and typography. Keep the page unpublished and do not change other pages or global settings.

Read back the saved layout and summarize the changes. If the target is not an empty draft, or a write has an uncertain outcome, stop and report it.

Replace placeholders before sending. A single prompt can require several operations; it is not automatically one Free action.

Free allowance

How the 10 Free actions work

Wire MCP Free includes 10 lifetime successful site-changing actions per verified site. This is not a monthly allowance and does not reset when you change AI assistants, update or reinstall the plugin.

What spends an action?

A supported operation that makes a verified, persisted change. One operation may save a complete section with several widgets. Separate changes may count separately.

What does not?

Read-only inspection, tool discovery and verified no-change or pre-execution rejection results do not spend an action.

One prompt is not one action

A hero built in one successful layout operation can use one action. If the assistant separately imports an image, saves the layout and makes another change, more than one action may be used. Counting follows operations, not messages, headings or individual widgets.

  • Spent: confirmed actions already used.
  • Held: reserved actions awaiting a reliable outcome. A timeout does not prove that nothing changed.
  • Available: the remaining allowance after spent and held actions.

At exhaustion, Free site-changing operations stop; supported read-only tools remain available. Active paid access is governed by the purchased plan instead of the Free allowance. Visual-render allowances are separate.

Maintenance

Update Wire MCP

  1. Back up your website and review the release notes.
  2. Open Dashboard → Updates and check for an update.
  3. If offered, update Wire MCP through WordPress.
  4. For a manual update, upload the official ZIP through Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin and select Replace current with uploaded.
  5. Confirm the loaded version, plan and dependencies. Check the AI connection with a read-only request.

Do not uninstall, erase site identity or reset Free history to update. A higher-numbered review/RC build may require deliberate manual replacement with Stable; WordPress does not normally offer it as an automatic downgrade.

Use official packages. A release email announces availability; it does not mean your website has already updated.

Using Wire MCP

Build native Elementor pages

Describe the page’s purpose, audience, sections, brand style and call to action. Claude or ChatGPT can use Wire MCP to create editable Elementor containers and supported widgets.

Page-building brief
Use Wire MCP to inspect the site's theme, Elementor dependencies and available design guide.

Build a draft landing page for [BUSINESS] aimed at [AUDIENCE]. Include a hero, services, process, FAQ and final call to action.

Use [BRAND COLORS], clear typography, balanced spacing and native editable Elementor widgets. Use only approved copy and images; do not invent testimonials or statistics.

Keep the page unpublished. Verify the saved layout and, if visual tools are available, review desktop followed by mobile. Report anything you could not verify.

Elementor can still be used to edit the result manually. Advanced effects, custom integrations and unavailable widgets may need a different implementation.

Using Wire MCP

Edit an existing page

Identify the page and exact section. State what should change and what should remain. Inspect before editing rather than asking the assistant to rebuild the whole page.

Targeted edit prompt
Inspect Page ID [PAGE ID]. Update only the hero heading to [NEW HEADING] and the primary button destination to [URL].

Preserve the layout, images, typography, responsive settings, publication status and every other section.

Read back the saved heading and destination. Do not make unrelated design changes.

Snapshots are available for supported workflows, but they are not a replacement for a full website backup.

Using Wire MCP

Images and media

Reuse suitable media-library assets or provide images you have permission to use. Specify the subject, crop and intended placement. Image generation or external asset access depends on the connected assistant and available tools.

  • For a two-column hero, choose an aspect ratio that balances the text column. Avoid an uncapped portrait image stretching the entire section.
  • Set appropriate desktop and mobile image dimensions, cropping and focal position.
  • Use proportionate file sizes and meaningful alt text for informative images.
  • Inspect the result at both breakpoints; a valid image URL alone does not verify the composition.
Image-framing prompt
Inspect the hero's text and image columns. Use a suitable landscape or square frame with a sensible height limit so the image does not create excessive empty space beside the copy.

Preserve the subject with an intentional crop and focal point. Set mobile framing separately. Do not change other sections or apply global CSS overrides.
Using Wire MCP

Responsive layouts

Ask for desktop, tablet and mobile behavior explicitly. Use native responsive controls for typography, spacing, widths, column order and image framing where available.

  • Keep headings readable without awkward wrapping.
  • Check column stacking and content order.
  • Keep buttons and form controls easy to use.
  • Check for horizontal overflow and excessive section height.
  • Review navigation, forms and links separately from appearance.

A saved responsive setting is not proof of a good mobile result. Open the frontend or use supported visual verification.

Advanced workflows

HTML and visual references

HTML → Elementor

Provide your HTML and ask for an editable reconstruction using native Elementor widgets. Identify any interactions or effects that must be retained.

Screenshot → Elementor

Provide a clear reference and your own content/assets. Ask the assistant to interpret hierarchy, spacing and composition, then build and review the result.

These advanced workflows depend on the capabilities included in your plan. Complex HTML, JavaScript or third-party widgets may not have a direct native equivalent. Ask the assistant to explain substitutions instead of claiming an exact conversion.

Screenshot interpretation depends on the AI assistant’s image capabilities. Saved-layout validation alone cannot prove visual fidelity.

Plans and capabilities

Free and paid plans

Start with the Free lifetime allowance, then choose a paid plan for ongoing access and advanced workflows. Available tools also depend on installed plugins and WordPress permissions.

PlanSitesUSD annual priceINR annual price
FreePer verified site10 lifetime successful actions
Starter2$39₹3,999
Pro5$49₹4,999
Agency100$149₹14,999

INR prices include 18% GST and are available for eligible India billing addresses. Manual annual purchases provide 365 days of access. See the pricing page for the current feature comparison and checkout terms.

New-sale plans do not replace the site limits or terms of historical purchases. Lifetime is not a current new-sale offering; existing purchased rights remain governed by their original terms.

Licensing

Activate your paid license

  1. Sign in to the purchasing account on wiremcp.com.
  2. Open My Licenses and locate the correct purchase.
  3. Copy the license key privately.
  4. In your WordPress Wire MCP dashboard, open Plans & License and activate the key.
  5. Confirm the active plan and site allowance.

With valid paid access, the Free counter is hidden. If activation fails, check the account, expiry, site limit and domain before contacting support. Do not erase site identity or Free history.

Your payment-provider login email can differ from your website account or billing email. Use the account associated with the purchase to find its license.

Payments and renewals

How annual billing works

Currency / methodRenewalWhat to expect
USD · StripeAutomatic annualRecurring billing according to the subscription terms shown at checkout.
USD · PayPalManual · 365 daysYou initiate and pay for renewal. No automatic debit.
INR · RazorpayManual · 365 daysIndia-only checkout with GST included. No automatic debit.

For a manual renewal, open My Licenses → Renew for 365 days on the correct license. Check the selected plan, currency and amount before paying.

A successfully verified manual renewal retains the same license key and purchased site rights. It adds 365 days from the later of the existing expiry and the renewal payment’s recorded capture time.

If the wrong currency or license appears, stop before paying and contact support. Cancelling a recurring subscription is separate from requesting a refund; see the Refund Policy.

Advanced workflows

Work with Elementor Pro

Elementor Free is enough for supported basic page-building workflows. Pro-only widgets, templates and features require Elementor Pro to be installed and active, alongside the necessary Wire MCP capability.

Ask the assistant to inspect available widgets before building. Wire MCP and Elementor Pro are separate products with separate licenses; purchasing one does not activate the other.

Advanced workflows

Theme Builder

Supported Theme Builder workflows can affect headers, footers and templates across the website. Inspect existing templates and display conditions first.

Draft header prompt
Inspect the existing Elementor Theme Builder templates and display conditions.

Prepare a draft header using the current logo, navigation labels and destination URLs. Preserve the active header.

Do not publish the new template or change site-wide display conditions until I approve it.

Review the mobile menu, sticky behavior, links and template conditions before applying a design site-wide.

Advanced workflows

WooCommerce workflows

With WooCommerce active, Wire MCP exposes supported store operations according to your plan, installed extensions and account permissions. Start with a read-only review, then request a draft product or a narrowly scoped change.

Read-only store review
Inspect the WooCommerce store using read-only tools. Summarize product types, currency and dependencies relevant to my request.

Do not change prices, stock, taxes, gateways, orders, subscriptions or customer records. Do not submit a checkout or payment.

Store configuration does not prove successful payments, renewals or tax compliance. Verify business-critical flows separately with the relevant providers and advisers.

Quality checks

Verify saved changes and appearance

Saved-state checks

Read back the page or affected resource to confirm the content, settings and publication status were stored correctly.

Visual Browser checks

Where your plan supports it, render desktop and mobile views and inspect the actual images for layout, spacing, framing and overflow.

  • Request desktop first, then mobile, to avoid overlapping jobs on the same site.
  • Confirm the screenshots show the intended page—not a login screen, 404 or error.
  • Report whether each image covers the full page or only a viewport.
  • Inspect text, images, mobile stacking and excessive section height. Test forms and links separately.
Draft pages stay private

Supported protected-preview rendering can inspect an unpublished draft when the required plugin and renderer versions are compatible. Do not publish a page merely to bypass a preview failure. If protected preview is unavailable, inspect it through your authorized WordPress preview and report the limitation.

Visual rendering uses a separate plan allowance. Accepted jobs can consume quota even if the resulting capture fails; do not assume every failed attempt is free or repeatedly retry without checking its status.

Troubleshooting

Claude or ChatGPT cannot connect, or OAuth returns 404

Check the exact MCP URL, HTTPS, active plugin version and the setup method supported by Wire MCP. Preserve query strings. A 401 authentication challenge from an unauthenticated MCP endpoint can be expected; a discovery URL returning 404 or HTML is a different problem.

Some hosts require a targeted OAuth discovery routing correction. Ask support or your host to inspect the failing URL. Do not blindly paste server rules, disable security protections or rotate working credentials.

ChatGPT reports a callback or authorization error

Check that the selected OAuth client and exact callback URI match the connection being configured. Do not reuse a callback from another app or assume an older example is correct. Share only the error text and failing stage with support—not tokens, secrets or the full callback URL containing a code.

The connection works, but tools are missing or edits are blocked

Select the correct website connection in the conversation. Check the WordPress user’s permissions, your Wire MCP plan, required plugins and AI workspace tool settings. Ask for a read-only capability list. Connection success alone does not grant every operation.

Free setup is pending, unavailable or shows a held action

Check the dashboard’s reported state and website connectivity. A held action means its outcome has not been fully resolved; it is not proof that nothing changed. Do not reinstall to reset credits, repeat an uncertain write or manually release a hold. Give support the operation identifier and displayed error.

A screenshot shows 404, a login page or “Could not resolve host”

A 404 capture of a draft can indicate missing preview access. A DNS or TLS error means the renderer may not have been reached. Verify service availability and the protected-preview path, then inspect the actual image. A successful screenshot response is not proof that the intended page rendered.

Keep drafts unpublished and avoid repeated render attempts while the cause is unresolved.

A tall image makes the hero unusually high

Inspect the image frame, aspect ratio, height limits, object-fit/crop and column alignment at each breakpoint. Ask for a focused framing change that preserves the subject and surrounding content. Use visual review to confirm the result.

The page looks different from the reference

Check fonts, theme styles, available widgets, responsive settings and media. Native conversion can require substitutions. Ask the assistant to identify the difference and change only the affected section. Saved structure alone does not establish visual fidelity.

A payment succeeded, but the license is not visible yet

Open My Licenses in the purchasing account and check the order status. If the paid order remains unresolved, contact support with its order number. Do not pay again or request a second license to work around a pending confirmation.

A renewal shows the wrong amount or currency

Stop before payment. Confirm the selected license and original purchase, then send support the order number and a sanitized checkout screenshot. Do not create another purchase as a substitute for the intended renewal.

An update is not appearing in WordPress

Use Dashboard → Updates → Check again, confirm the installed version and review the official changelog. If needed, use the official ZIP replacement process. Higher-numbered RC builds may not receive a lower-numbered Stable offer automatically.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Can I use both Claude and ChatGPT?

Yes, with a compatible Wire MCP release and an eligible AI account. Each connection needs authorization. Both use the same site’s permissions, entitlements and Free lifetime history; switching assistants does not create another allowance.

Will Claude and ChatGPT create identical designs?

No. Wire MCP provides shared capabilities and design guidance, but the assistant’s reasoning, model, prompt and available context affect the result. Review the saved page and its desktop/mobile appearance.

Does every prompt use one action?

No. Actions are counted by successful site-changing operations. One prompt can use zero, one or several actions. Read-only inspection does not spend Free actions.

Do Free actions renew every month?

No. The 10 Free actions are a lifetime allowance for the verified site. Updating, reinstalling or reconnecting does not reset the balance.

Do I need Elementor Pro?

Not for supported Elementor Free workflows. Elementor Pro is required for its own Pro-only widgets and templates, and is licensed separately from Wire MCP.

Can I edit the result in Elementor myself?

Yes. Native Elementor containers and widgets remain editable in Elementor. Ask the assistant to explain any custom-code or unsupported-feature substitutions.

Can Wire MCP manage existing websites?

Yes. Request scoped edits to supported content, layouts and settings. Inspect first, preserve unrelated content and use a current backup for important changes.

Will renewal create a different license key?

A verified manual renewal of an existing license preserves its key and purchased site rights, and extends its access term. Use the renewal action on that license rather than buying an unrelated new plan.

Will my pages disappear when paid access expires?

Expiry does not automatically delete saved WordPress or Elementor content. Paid Wire MCP capabilities and services depend on active entitlement; Elementor and other dependencies have their own licensing terms.

How do release emails and unsubscribe work?

Release and promotional emails use your separate email preference and, where required, email confirmation. Unsubscribing from those messages does not change your license or download rights. Transactional order and license emails are handled separately.
